While vacationing at Orlando, we walked over to the Disney’s Boardwalk near the Epcot. You can actually see the Epcot ball from the boardwalk, which is pretty cool. The boardwalk itself is not that long, but it does have a handful of eateries, shops, and some entertainments.
One of the eateries here that caught our eyes was the Ample Hills Creamery. They are originally from New York (Brooklyn to be more precise), so we had to support the business! Who are we kidding? We love desserts…no matter their origin!
The inside is not so big, but hey, it is an ice cream shop. It was nice and bright, clean, and well organized. The staffs here were welcoming and upbeat, polite and fun. I liked the wall mural with their three farm animal characters, Walt the Cow, Whitty the Chicken, and PB the Pig. Do you know much about these guys? They are adorable! Walt the Cow is earnest, foolhardy and maybe even a little bit gullible. He has blue ears and loves naps. Whitty the Chicken is a bit brash but fiercely loyal. He loves to play dress up. PB the Pig is everyone’s favorite. He loves ice cream, peanut butter and not taking long walks. PB the Pig is my favorite…naturally…
While waiting in line, PB the Pig had a nice drawing chart, describing how to order what you want. Easy to understand, fun to look at. Good job PB!
They had a good amount of flavors, and they do make the flavors with the location of the shop in mind. The labels was super cute and easy to read, and they all sounded sooooo good! We got one sample after another until we finally decided…
Then we had to decide cup or cone, and what kind of cone? Decisions, decisions… We like waffle cones, so we decided to go with the regular waffle cone.
You get to have two flavors in any size, or if want large, you can have more than two. I tell you, choosing just two flavors was hard… But then again, choosing five would have been hard too, for as long as you can’t have them all… Anyways, we finally decided on Ooey Gooey Butter cake, and Sally Sells Seashells. Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is a staff favorite, made with the creamiest vanilla cream wit cream cheese and bobs of St. Louis-style ooey gooey butter cake. Sally Sells Seashells is made with fresh and fluffy orange marshmallow ice cream with housemade salty chocolate seashells. This flavor is available exclusively at this location, because they get the salty chocolate seashells from right next door, Boardwalk Bakery.
The staff who was helping us asked if we wanted any topping like sprinkles and whipped cream. We said YES and YES!!! Hey, just like PB the Pig said, we gotta live a little (…or a lot!). She gave us a generous amount of whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles as requested. And let me tell you, they were SOOOOOOO GOOD! My goodness the ice cream was to die for… I could’ve had a huge bowlful… It was such a treat, made our fun vacation even sweeter.
Now that we are back in NYC, I am craving their ice cream so much! I am glad I don’t live too close to their shops, as I would be going there every day if I could…
