We went back to this adorable café that holds one of my favorite cream puff for more! We got some hot drinks, Praline Latte ($4.82/small) and Matcha Jasmine Latte ($4.75/small). Praline Latte was almost velvety, sweet but not too overwhelming. Very comforting nice drink on a cold day. Matcha Jasmine was interesting. From the first sip, you get a very strong flavor of jasmine, almost like a punch of flavor. Great aroma and flavor of jasmin indeed, that went great with matcha. Creamy foam and beautiful latte art of a swan!
We wanted a Totoro Macaron ($5.28), and didn’t really care what flavor it was, for as long we got a Totoro! It was made with black sesame, with cookies & cream ganache. Black sesame flavor was subtle. Nice almond flavor from the macaron shells. Not very strong flavor of anything… Kind of pricey for this item in my opinion.
We also got one cream puff, we just couldn’t resist… We chose Earl Grey Cream Puff ($3.90). It was loaded with cream filling, oozing out like a fresh mozzarella ball… It had really nice earl grey flavor that comes later. The shell was crumbly in a nice way, light yet sturdy enough hold all that golden cream. Still one of my favorite cream puffs in the city!
Soon after that visit, we were back again for a light brunch. We had to get a sweet too, since they do such amazing desserts! I went with a really cute and interesting looking item, Milk Tea Cloud ($11.02), made with milk tea mousse, brown sugar caramel, dark chocolate cake & crunchies, dipped in white chocolate shell. Now, I must admit, I didn’t see the price tag until after we bought it… It is not a large item, as you can see next to the coffee cup. I was a bit amazed at the high price tag… It certainly was cute, and looked like a cloud from a fairy tale.
It was very chocolatey, as it was coated with white chocolate. Rich and decadent for sure. It had creamy filling topped with rather firm mousse that tasted more like chocolate than milk tea for some reason. Maybe the flavor of chocolate was too overpowering. The bottom was not so much chocolate “cake” but had a texture similar to peanut brittle with crunchy texture.
Then, the savory item. I saw some photos of their Egg Sando ($4.99) and was really wanting to try them! It is made with house made milk bread with zesty egg salad and celery. The one we got didn’t look as nice nor as enticing as the ones I saw in photos… The hard-boiled egg in the middle was cooked completely, losing its bright orange color. I wish if they didn’t cook them completely. The sandwich had a nice kick to it from mustard seeds, enjoyed the popping texture. It was super fresh, with crunchy celery bits. Not the best egg salad sandwich I’ve ever had, but it was tasty.
I say this is still one of my favorite cafe, and its popularity shows how others agree with me… There are still so many other desserts that I haven’t tried, so I am sure we will be back for more!
