After visiting Manhattanville Market last summer, I have been wanting to go back for some more tasty dishes from this food hall. We finally went back in the fall, when we knew Butterfunk Biscuit was offering breakfast items. The Manhattanville Market is open from 8am, but that doesn’t mean you can get food from all the vendors. We were there before 11am, and only Butterfunk Biscuit Co. and The Botanist were open at that time. That also meant that the food hall was nearly empty, and we could choose to sit wherever we wanted. The entire space is covered with floor-to-ceiling windows, making it super bright in there, which can be both good and bad…we found a seat away from the windows as it was too bright and warm. The newly joined restaurant in the space, Olivia is only open for dinner, so we sat at their dining area, which is open for everyone during the day.
We got cappuccino ($5/small) to go with our late breakfast. It was actually a nice size, more like medium size than small in my opinion. It was a nice cup of coffee, with a creamy foam on top.
The Butterfunk Biscuit Co. had a few breakfast biscuit sandwiches to choose from, and we went with Smoked Salmon Biscuit ($13) and Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit ($10).
The Smoked Salmon Biscuit sandwich ($13) is made with Smoked Atlantic Salmon, Chive Crème Cheese, Sliced Cucumber, and Gribiche on “EVERYTHING” Biscuit. It was really nice, I liked how they made it like a lox on everything bagel. The biscuit was fluffy and airy, buttery and flaky. The salmon was nice and thick, a good amount folded in there. Fresh and with just the right amount of salty flavor. Cucumber added that crisp texture and refreshing flavor. The cream was nice and velvety, it was a really nice biscuit sandwich!
Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit sandwich ($10) is made with Pennsylvania Dutch Style Sausage, Scrambled Egg, Ketchup and Cheese. This one was nice and meaty, with the cheese just melting over perfectly. Drool-worthy item for sure. The sausage was very flavorful, egg was cooked just right so that it is not dry, nor runny. The biscuit was again fluffy and buttery, a great breakfast sandwich!
We found out that they no longer offer a discount with Columbia University ID, but the price is affordable and the quality is high. I would definitely return for more. If you are wondering about the hours, the other eateries open at 11am, and Olivia is only open for dinner. Check their website for more information. We had a nice late breakfast here, and now that Butterfunk Biscuit Co. is offering Plates & Bowl, I would like to try some of that too. And, definitely some of their desserts if we ever have enough room left in our stomach!

The biscuits look great! Are you going to do reviews of places with good gluten free options?
Hi Mayank!
That is a great idea, I will add gluten free information at places I go in the future! 🙂
