Cahoots is a 1940s-themed bar with three areas: The Station, Control Room, and Underground, all related to train and train station. Each areas look great, with all sorts of antique-elements everywhere. We were there for the Underground to have some jolly-fun inside a train! Their “Underground Station” is a quirky 1940s-themed bar, offering illicit cocktails and rations.
There was a really nice and friendly host, manning the entrance. He was checking everyone’s reservation, and making sure the table for each guest group is ready, before sending a group down. While we were waiting for our table to get ready, we really got to look around to appreciate all the little details.
We even had some time to take a photo on a staircase, which is an old-fashioned wooden escalators, leading to the Underground Station. From their stories, it is said that “a band of ne’er-do-wells and Scoundrels discovered a hidden gem in the subterranean tunnels beneath London’s bustling Soho. It was the disused Kingly Court Underground Station.” It also says that it was “once used as an emergency air raid shelter during the war.” How interesting!
Once our table was ready, a staff escorted us down, and to our table. The area was much larger than I expected it to be. It was busy with people ready for some good time!
Our table was inside the vintage train carriage! Yes! It was awesome! Since there were three of us, we got to have a booth for four. What a super fun underground train theme! And yes, you are encouraged to dress up in the 1940s-ish attire for extra fun!
They have a fully stacked bar, with lots of teacups that they serve certain alcoholic beverages in… And, their menu is in a form of a newspaper, so no one will find out you are trying to get some illicit drinks… How awesome are they?
We got some complimentary popcorn in a can of apple sauce, as we ordered some fun drinks. Just look at these, don’t they just scream “fun”???
Our friend ordered Vera Lynn (£13), made with Tanqueray No. Ten gin, cloudy apple juice, pear purée, ginger, elderflower, lime, black pepper. It came in an awesome “cup” with great presentation! It tasted kind of like lemon honey somehow, tasty!
I went with Marilyn Monroe (£13), made with Star of Bombay gin, Roots mastiha liqueur, Mancino Rosso Amaranto vermouth, berry syrup, lemon, egg white. It came in a heel with a rose pedal!!! How cool (and sexy) is that??? It was quite sweet but elegantly sweet. A bit fruity, tasted like fruit syrup. It doesn’t look like it can hold that much liquid in there, but it actually had a nice amount.
My hubby went with Cahooch Sour (£12), made with Cahooch, lemon, chamomile & cardamom syrup, egg white. It was sweet, and high quality! It was nice and creamy with the egg white, just the way my hubby likes it. Very relaxing drink. We believe the letter was spelled out with cocoa powder or some sort of chocolate, since we could smell the chocolate.
I wanted to try more drinks, since they were all so interesting, but we were a bit too tired since it was our first day in London, getting there on red eye flight. I am sure all the rest of drinks are fabulous too! I am sure we will go back the next time we visit London!
