We recently visited newly renovated Capitol Diner a few months ago. At that time, we found out how their chicken and waffle sell out rather quick. We got so curious, we went back earlier in the morning to see if we can get them before they are gone. And guess what? We got them! We actually got the last two! How lucky are we? So, here is their famous Belgian Waffle with Fried Chicken ($13.95). When we saw them coming our way, we were in awe. First of all, it was huge! So much bigger in portion than we expected it to be.
It came with a large, warm waffle, topped with large chicken pieces, lightly dusted with powder sugar on top. There were five friend chicken pieces in total, a mountain of fried goodness. I drizzled some maple syrup on top for added sweetness. The waffle was soft, moist, and cooked well. Chicken was super juicy with crunchy exterior, packed with flavor. It was absolutely delicious, finger-licking good!
The portion was so big, I didn’t finish them all. We took some fried chickens home with us, and we enjoyed them the second time later. I am so glad we finally got to taste their chicken and waffle! The atmosphere in the diner was fun, warm, and welcoming. We got to chit a little with other locals with a big smile. I think that what attract people to an old-fashion diner, the people who works there and people who visit there, with warm, welcoming smile.
