We ventured out to Brooklyn for a brunch, to Circa! I was excited about this spot, as it is a fully functioning brewery and pizza restaurant. We don’t drink often, but we certainly enjoy drinking quality beer, wine, cocktail and everything else tasty! They had a small seating before the main entrance door, but I believe this is their “outdoor” seating during the warm months. They had this area covered so that you can still sit here and enjoy the street view without freezing your butt off.
The first glance at the entry way had that “wow” factor, with large, simple yet modern and cool light fixture with a fan, greeting the customers. They had a cute, cozy waiting area to the left of the entrance with comfy looking sofa and recliner chair.
From the entry way, you can see the big & shiny beer brewing equipment to the right. A bar counter goes pretty far back, with more than enough counter seats lining up. I really liked the playful lines and curves of this interior, with a pop of color here and there.
They have around 10 plus draft beers, all made right here! Pretty darn cool. They also offer cocktails, Ciders & Sours, and wine. But, when you have the chance to taste some local beers that are made right there, why not try those?
They had a large, fun beer board, showing all the beer offerings and a few info. Easy to see, fun to read. The bar counter had a unique design too. At the back where the bar ends, the counter wraps around it, and continue on for a bit longer. Nice way to utilize the space!
And yes, they do have regular table seating too. They had a handful of booth seating, and rest are tables. We sat at the booth, and a really cool view of the bar. The lights hanging above created fun, cozy atmosphere.
They have more seating at the back, beyond the bar. They also had a section where you could have a small party! It was semi private, although not completely separated nor closed off from the rest. Their kitchen was all the way to the back, and you can see them cooking up something tasty!
At our booth, everything we needed was there; silverware, napkins, and some basic condiments for pizza. Our server brought us a bottle of water with cups, which is always good to have, instead of keep asking for a refill on water.
As I mentioned, they brew all the draft beers here, so we wanted to try them instead of cocktails. They had an option for a flight of beers, which comes in four beers of your choice. We asked for a few recommendations from our server, and she gave us really great pointers. We chose Pilsner ($5), Belgian Golden Strong ($5), APA ($5), and Porter ($5).
Pilsner was very crisp and refreshing, light and easy to drink. Belgian Golden Strong had a bit more weight to it than Pilsner. It also had more depth the flavor. Not as fruity as I thought it would be, but subtle and warm, comforting. Clean finish. APA had the beautiful amber color. Nice earthy flavor. Porter was really good! I was surprised with how tasty it was! It had a nice flavor of chocolate and coffee, rich and warm, it went down real smooth. We enjoyed all of these beers. Great job!
For food, we definitely wanted get some kind of pizza, as they seem to be very popular. And, we decided to get a regular brunch item, and a side of fries. I must say, I somehow thought the pizza would be smaller…
They offer wood-fired pizza, and all of them sounded sooo good! I was thinking of Benedict pizza, because it comes with farm egg. But then, I found out you can add all sorts of additional toppings to any of their pizza! What! Then my option was limitless… We finally decided on Boys Got Heat ($21), and added farm egg (additional $3). It is made with spicy Italian sausage, tomato, roasted pepper, fontina, mozzarella, and Parmigiano Reggiano. The pizza was about 13 inches, with nice, thin crust. I don’t always eat crust of pizza, but their crust was tasty! It was charred just a little to add the great smoky flavor. Egg was cooked just right. It was not so spicy, but had a nice kick to it. Super Tasty!
Chicken & Waffle ($17) comes with buttermilk fried chicken with a side of spicy maple syrup. It came with three pieces of chicken! It had wing, thigh and breast. It might look small next to the pizza, but it was huge portion!
I drizzled the spicy maple syrup and went on the fluffy waffle ride. The waffle had a nice sweetness to it, which was also enhanced with powdered sugar. The syrup was quite tasty, it had a nice kick to it that went great with the chicken. Speaking of the chicken…it was super crispy on the outside, which gave that great “crunch!” noise. The inside was juicy, and oh yeah, very filling.
Last but not least, Rosemary Fries ($9). If we really think about the amount of food we received, we didn’t need this side order. But if I think about how SUPER amazing this fries were, we TOTALLY needed to order this. The fries were actually the first thing we tasted, before pizza and waffle. And let me tell you, it was freakin’ amazing! So delicious and addictive to the point we forgot about pizza and waffle for just a second… It was perfect with beer, flavorful and comforting. The spicy mayo that came with it was also amazing! Could I have a lifetime supply of this please?
They have a bathroom all the way in the back, passed their kitchen. There is a glass door with “Toilets” on the door, and then you will see another glass door with “M” and “W.”
They had three bathroom stalls, one large one for family, with sink in the inside. I liked the sink for the others, with three faucets. It had that old-fashion, antique feel to it. It was nice and clean, with big mirrors that we don’t have to fight over. LOL.
We had a really pleasant brunch here, everything was delicious, and I thought it was all very affordable too, considering the portion and quality. We were completely stuffed, we had to get some food to go. Our server was lovely. She was friendly, polite and helpful with recommendation. What a great spot to get some food and booze! And it is not a typical restaurant, but a brewery! I love to go back to try more of their delicious food and beer offerings!
