I have been wanting to get some tasty looking doughnuts from there, but we always get there too late… Seems like their doughnuts are a bit too popular. So, we decided to go there for some real food, and not doughnuts.
The inside is quite small, as this is not a restaurant, but more like a bakery/café. There is a small hostess counter at the back where you put in an order of your food. She was quite efficient, friendly, and welcoming. When we walked in, there was no seat available, so while we try to figure out if we want to stay or go, she brought menu for us to look over.
But since the turnover is kind of quick, so it were able to get a couple of seats within 10 minutes or so. Speaking of seats, this place has minimum amount of seats. The tall bar tables are large, yet, it had two or three chairs around it. I guess two people can sit while others can stand at the same table? They had a small counter seats facing the window too. But altogether, maybe around 15 seats, including bar counter seats?
We decided to get some sandwiches. The first choice was Patty Melt ($14), made with dry aged beef, griddled onions, American cheese. Even though there is no table service here, a staff will bring out your food to you. It was brought out on a super flat plate, hard to move it around… And no utensils, get ready to get messy. Patty melt was small but very tasty. The patty was medium to medium well done. It had a nice sweetness from the griddled onion. It was a cheesy goodness! Even thought it was delicious, a bit pricy for the size.
The second choice was Grilled Cheese ($9). There was option to add bacon (additional $2) and pepper mostarda (additional $0.50), so we decided to add both, making this grilled cheese to be $11.50. This one was much bigger than the Patty Melt. Loved the sweet sauce. Perfectly grilled with a bit crispy-ness on soft bread. Bacon was meaty and crispy yet not too crispy, just right.
They had complimentary water on the bar counter, which is always a plus. We enjoyed our sandwiches, they were both super delicious. A bit pricy for a sandwich, but then again, the quality was very high! I would love to go get some more of that yummy food! And if I am lucky enough, maybe I will get there early enough to get one of their doughnuts one day…
