During our visit to Marco Island, we have had some tasty food from Michelbob’s, Oyster Society, Fogg Café, DaVinci’s Ristoranté, and few other spots. We managed to squeeze in another place, but for breakfast. We haven’t had the opportunity to try any breakfast/brunch spot, so we were very excited. After some research, we decided on Doreen’s Cup of Joe. We arrived right after 9am, and it was already busy with a good amount of people waiting for their tables.
They had a large outdoor seating, with fans and pretty light fixtures. It was late November, so even though it is Florida, they had some of the outdoor heater going to make it extra comfortable. I liked the light blue across the entire outdoor area. I liked that beach-y feel that you get from the light blue color, mixed with the distressed wood floor.
The indoor seating was very nice too, with the same/similar light fixtures, and some decors that made me think of cozy house on a farm. It had loads of large windows, bringing in natural lights, making it nice and bright. With the way the inside was set up, I felt as though the outdoor seating had more space than the indoor seating.
We started off with Coffee ($3) which comes with free refills. But, the best part about this to me was their selection of creamers! They had several kinds of International Delight creamers, such as Irish Crème, French Vanilla, Hazelnut, and then regular half & half. I used a good few of the flavored creamers… I just loved them!
We also ordered Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice ($4) to share. It was rather small, but it was the real deal. They are made from Florida oranges, perfectly sweet, with all the pulp and everything! It was an amazing orange juice… The best way to get some vitamins!
For food, we did our usual: one savory dish, one sweet dish. Yes, I do have the perfect dining partner, who lets me taste both worlds of tasty nations. We ordered a customized Skillet ($14) and Doreen’s Famous Crunch French Toast ($14). When they tell you a specific item is “Doreen’s Famous” dish, it is hard to resist, right?
Doreen’s Famous Crunch French Toast is served with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and powdered sugar. The crunchy French toast was delicious! I loved the crunch. It had a generous amount of ripen strawberry, sweet and refreshing. It was a nice size, and you can have it as is, or with a drizzle of syrup. Either way, it will make your tummy smile!
As for the skillet, they had a few skillet dishes, but for some reason, I was not excited about them. So, instead, I went with the “Create Your Own Skillet” which you can select up to five ingredients ($14). You can add some other items for additional cost. The skillet is served with two eggs any style, and a choice of white, wheat or sourdough toast. I went with sunny side up, and wheat toast. It also came with some fruits, which was great.
For the skillet ingredients, I chose sausage, chorizo, tomato, spinach and mushroom. Doesn’t that sound just great??? They were placed on top of hash, and it was great too! The chorizo was the most noticeable item since it had a nice kick to it, spicy! Eggs were cooked to perfection, giving me egg porn… I wish if it had a bit more spinach, but overall, it was very meaty and filling. I loved the hash underneath too, making it extra tasty and extra filling. It was a great item!
Their bathroom is located in the inside, in the back to the right from the entrance. They had unisex bathroom with diaper changing station for parents with babies.
The inside had that same light blue color, making it beach-y in here too. And the artwork on the wall made it extra beach-y. It was clean, nice size, and well lit.
Our breakfast at Doreen’s Cup of Joe was great! We enjoyed everything from the coffee, juice, and the food. I am glad we got to try both savory and sweet dishes, they were both very tasty. I would love to go back and try other dishes from there in the future!
