Throughout NYC, mainly at coffee shops, I have seen delectable doughnuts from Dough. I always enjoyed their doughnuts, large, fluffy and tasty. I finally got to visit one of their locations, instead of coffee shops that sell their doughnuts!
The one on 19th Street was a good size, especially for a doughnut shop. It was rather full with evening cravings of sweet goodness. The inside was simple, cozy, clean and modern.
They had one large communal table, and then a few counter seats. Well, less than a few counter seats, as one of them was broken, and left on the ground… Sad to see it abandoned like that, hopefully they will repair that chair soon. At the front end of the communal table, they had paper napkins, plasticware, sugar and few other items you might need.
They have cold drinks in the fridge, and they also serve ice/hot coffee and tea. If you just want some water, they have that covered too. At the beautiful sink, you can fill up the cup through a golden dog faucet. Yes, you read right, golden dog! How cute! He will be there to help you quench your thirst.
Now, the doughnuts… As it was late in the evening, they sold out on some items already, but still had a good varieties to choose from. They make their doughnuts handmade, and in small batches throughout the day, so that they are fresh no matter what time you get there. You can actually see into the kitchen from the ordering counter, and take a look at how the doughnuts are made!
Since their doughnuts are large, we decided to get just two to share. The first one was Café au Lait ($3.65), inspired by a classic coffee cake made with a roasted coffee glaze and crunchy pecan topping. I love coffe cake and café au lait, so this one great! Large and fluffy, a bit chewy in a good way, and the glaze was amazing! I enjoyed the crunchy texture on top. Dense yet not too heavy, sweet without being too sweet, such a delight!
The second one was more decadent, as we chose filled doughnut. We went with Chocolate Peppermint Cream ($3.85) which was one of the special flavor & filling of the day. It had a good amount of filling, nice peppermint flavor from the peppermint candy that was crushed enough so that it was easy to eat with nice crunch!
They were both delightful and filling, I am glad I finally got to try their doughnuts at one of their locations! I would love to try all of their different flavors… slowly but surely!
