There are so many great rooftop spots in NYC, I have been to a few, such as Sushi Lab Rooftop and Hotel Chantelle, and had a really nice time! This time, I found this spot called Elsie Rooftop for a Bottomless Brunch. I usually stay away from bottomless places, since they tend to water down the drinks, or the drinks are not so great, from my past experience. So, I was not sure about how this place was going to be, but I was hopeful. The sign for this spot was not extremely noticeable, but we found it without issue. Once we entered, we went down a long, super clean, shiny white hallway. A staff let us into an elevator, and used his key card to take the elevator to the rooftop.
When we got out of the elevator, this bright, open space welcomed us. It was much smaller than I thought it would be, but more cozy and the interior was super modern. We had a reservation for when they first opened up for the day, so it was still empty. Loved the high ceilings in here! Then we were brought to “outdoor” seating space which was in the back.
The outdoor seating area was completely covered, and it was so pretty! Loved the decor and atmosphere. According to their website, “Elsie Rooftop is an homage to Elsie de Wolfe, the pioneering interior designer who revolutionized the field by introducing a more feminine, lighter, and simpler style that broke away from the ornate Victorian decor of her time.” I can totally see that in every part of their interior.
The view from there was pretty nice, and with it being all covered, this space can be open for dining all-season. But, since the weather was super nice, they opened up the side window/door, so we could also step outside to the actual terrace space as well. Awesome!
And before too long, the outdoor dining room was packed! I didn’t pay too much attention to the indoor seating area, but I think it was lively by the time we left as well. I loved how much greeneries it had in this space. The chairs and benches were comfortable. I am not a big fan of eating off the low table, but it didn’t bother me that much since were having lots of fun.
The Bottomless Drinks are for 90-min, and $45 per person. This does not include food. We were told that we can choose any Sangria from their four sangria options during 90-mininutes brunch. We decided to start with Mimosa Sangria, in pitcher, since more than one of us wanted to try. It is made with Brut, Chambord, orange, and pineapple. The server brought us empty wine glasses with orange slice in it, which was a nice touch. It was not as easy to pour them into the glasses with the ice cubes, but I managed. And I tell you, it was really tasty!!! Not water down or anything, really flavorful, fruity, and refreshing.
We of course tried all four kinds of Margarita they offer. They had Peach Rosé Sangria, made with Rosé Wine, Creme de Peche, white peach purée, then Red Room Sangria, made with Pinot Noir, Bulleit Bourbon, Hennessy, VSOP, orange, pomegranate, honey, and last but not least, Margarita Sangria, made with Sauvignon Blanc, Codigo 1530, Blanco, agave, pineapple, lime. We first tried them by the glass, and then we chose to get carafe of Peach Rosé Sangria. Mimosa and Peach Rosé Sangria were our favorite! Although, my husband really enjoyed the Red Room Sangria, the more basic style of sangria. We were all super happy with our drinks! Elsie Rooftop knows how to do Bottomless Brunch right!
Their brunch menu was very attractive. As an all-season rooftop, they offer seasonally-focused light fare. The first one we chose was Shakshuka ($18), made with Two Poached Eggs, Feta Cheese, Tomato Sauce, Cumin, Paprika, Garlic, Peppers, and Baguette. It had deep, earthy tomato flavor. Eggs were cooked to perfection. The baguette was nice and toasty, great for dipping into that goodness. The portion was a bit small, but it was nice and filling!
The second dish of choice was “Egg In Hole” Croque Madame ($21), made with Organic Brown Eggs, Sourdough, Ham, Gruyere Bechamel, and Chives. It was so good with great seasoning! It had a really nice pepper flavor. Prosciutto provided nice added salty flavor. Perfectly cooked egg was hidden under the prosciutto, in the “hole” of the bread. Salad was super fresh, and the dressing was light yet flavorful, refreshing. It was an excellent Croque Madam!
The third choice was Cheese Toast ($18), made with Ricotta, Edamame, Honey, and Lemon Zest. To be honest, I was curious about this dish, but didn’t expect much for some reason. To my surprise, it was REALLY good. It had a nice sweetness from Ricotta, and smooth and velvety. It was SOOOOO good!
Last but least, Sliders ($22), made with Brioche, Swiss Cheese, and Pickle. Since I have a weak spot for burgers, I also have weak spot for sliders… I was not given an option for how I wanted it cooked, but it was not a surprise, as it is a small patty. It was cooked well, but still juicy. I loved the nice melty cheese. There was caramelized onion and fresh arugula as well on the side, which I appreciated. I like to add a little refreshing greens with burger or slider. The buns were plump and soft. I enjoyed them.
Their bathroom is located near the elevator. There are a few small bathroom stalls at the end of that corridor, all gender neutral, but quite dark. There is no way to brighten the room so if you have bad eyesight or whatnot, it might not be suitable.
The bathroom that is located directly across from the elevator had a good amount of lighting, and I think it is slightly larger than the other ones? It was clean and well maintained.
We had a super fun Bottomless Brunch here at the Elsie Rooftop. The drinks were flavorful and strong (but not too strong), and the food were all great too. The service was good, we were never rushed, but didn’t feel neglected at all. Whenever we got attention of our server, she came over immediately. It was relaxing and enjoyable. It is a great place to hang out with friends and family as we have, we would definitely go back again for more!
