When we visited Cape Cod this summer, we went to one of a new restaurant in Falmouth. They serve modern Greek cuisine, and heard good things about their food. They had a nice large outdoor seating, where everyone was enjoying the nice weather. They have a parking right next to the restaurant, very convenient.
The inside was really big, open space with loads of natural lights coming in from every angle. We got there early evening, before the dinner rush, so it was still nearly empty. But it did get very busy later! It would be best to get a reservation, especially during the weekend.
They had some booth, and a really nice lounge area by the bar. The rest of the space was filled with table seating. The design was elegant, simple, with pops of beautiful blue everywhere. They had a pizza section towards the back, where you can see them baking some tasty looking pizza in coal fire oven.
We sat outside to soak up the beautiful weather. The outdoor space was good, but the tables are placed a bit close to each other, people keep hitting the back of chairs with other customers. I feel like the furniture was too large and bulky for the space. But one we were settled, they brought some complimentary bread and a bottle of water for the table. The bread was really good, fresh and fluffy. The water glass was interesting, kind of oval shape. Maybe so that it does not take up too much space on the table?
We started off with some drinks. I ordered Strawberry Sangria ($12), and my hubby went with Farmer Willie’s Peach Mule $12)
Strawberry Sangria is made with white wine, strawberry puree, muddled mint and cucumber, topped with soda. It came in a nice glass, and had a really nice flavor. But it was filled with ice cubes, and it got water down quick… Peach Mule is made with Farmer Willie’s ginger beer with peach vodka, fresh-squeezed lemon juice and garnished with crystalized ginger & lemon. It was very refreshing, with nice ginger flavor. The candied ginger was fun. We didn’t see crystalized lemon though…
We ordered a couple of appetizers to share among the four of us. The first choice was Spanakopita ($16), made with spinach, feta, and scallions, layered with filo dough. It was nice and flakey with loads of spinach and cheese! The portion was quite large, enough to share among four people with ease. It was really flavorful, simple yet rich and earthy. Tasty!
The second appetizer was something that I just could not resist… Grilled Octopus ($19) made with imported Mediterranean sushi grade octopus, char-grilled with olive oil, lemon, and oregano. Why I couldn’t resist this item? Because it was indicated on the menu as “awarded best of Cape Cod.” Yes, I fell for it completely, and for a good reason! The octopus was sooooo good! Plump and soft, tender, not chewy at all. Great seasonings that makes the natural flavor of octopus come alive. I also enjoyed some charred part of octopus that had smoky flavor. Totally loved this dish!
Now the main dishes. One of us ordered Swordfish Kebobs ($22). It comes with one skewer of grilled swordfish, and one skewer of veggie kebob. You can add another swordfish kebob for another $6. It was very good, simple yet well made.
I went with Blackened Big Eye Tuna ($30), made with native tuna, pan seared with blackening seasoning. It is served over roasted fingering potatoes, sautéed green beans, finished with balsamic drizzle. On this day, they were out of fingering potatoes, so it was replaced with roasted asparagus, and lemon herb potatoes. It was served on a beautiful blue plate, really nice! The tuna pieces were thick and fresh, spicy and delicious! Cooked perfectly, just the way I like. Asparagus was just a bit tougher than I like, but it was fresh and tasty. Potatoes were flavorful, really nice dish. Super filling and satisfying.
My hubby went with Seafood Estia ($34), made with sautéed shrimp, calamari, swordfish, salmon, cod, little neck clams, basil and Kalamata olives in an Estia tomato sauce, served over rice. Yes, it is certainly mouthful, so many ingredients in to a dish! It was a bit similar to chiopino, but not spicy at all. Nice comforting flavor. Generous amount of seafood, very good tomato based sauce that went really well with the seafood.
Seafood Estia is served with a side salad, but my hubby substituted it with Truffle Fries. Interesting thing was, two of at the table ordered Seafood Estia, one with side salad and one with fries. The kitchen staff assumed that the customer who ordered the one with fries does not want any rice, and didn’t put any rice on the plate. I am not sure the reason why??? So we had to ask for the rice on the side. Anyways, truffle fries had a great truffle aroma and flavor. Addictive and tasty.
Since we all enjoyed our food tremendously, we decided to push our luck with desserts. We ordered two desserts to share. The first one was Chocolate Cake ($9). It is a 2 layer Chocolate cake, with chocolate butter cream, and chocolate ganache glaze, serviced with crème anglaise and whipped cream. Our server said it was the best chocolate cake she’s ever had. It was just a-ok to me. Way too sweet, it was like tasting sugar and sugar…
The second dessert was Baklava ($8). A rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts, sweetened and held together with honey. It was really nice, but a bit too heavy. One of our company said it was the best Baklava he’s ever had.
Having a coffee with no sugar was perfect with these sweet desserts.
The bathroom is located near the coal fired pizza oven. The signs on the doors were interesting. They had Venus de Milo for women’s bathroom, and Discobolus of Myron for men’s bathroom.
The bathroom was large, clean, and organized. Well-lit and spacious.
We had a lovely dinner here. Each dish was crafted with care, and with large portion! We were all very full after the meal. I was not a big fan of their desserts, but still, it was great. Our server, Christina, was very nice and friendly. She took a good care of us. It is always a great time when you are sharing with lovely company!
