When I traveled to Phoenix Arizona, I made sure to do some research on restaurants in the downtown Phoenix to make sure I have a delicious trip! The hotel I was staying at had a handful of dining options inside the hotel, but none of them stood out. So, I started with breakfast spots nearby the hotel. The first one I visited was a sandwich place that also had breakfast menu. They had nice covered outdoor seating, but since I was not used to the Arizona heat, I went inside for my breakfast.
The inside was quite large, with lots and lots of seating options. Since the spot is located at the corner lot, it was very bright in the inside with natural light. The furniture was mix of size, material, color and design. But yet, the entire space somehow came together and gave a unified look.
Towards the back, they had a colorful little lounge section with sofa and swivel chairs. Cute and gives a nice pop of color in the whole space.
The decor was both simple and fun, retro and modern. I liked those cartoon decor hidden everywhere, like in an old black and white photo, or a part of ceilings.
To the left of the entrance is the order counter. When I walked in around 8:30am, it was empty… I was expecting some king of a morning rush, but I don’t think I saw a single soul in here… But, that didn’t stop me from getting my breakfast.
Across from the ordering counter, they had an old game machine, which was fun. And then, right to it was some complimentary water with cups. Always nice to see a place with free water, since I like to drink lots of water.
Next to the ordering counter is the drinks and condiments section. All drinks are self-service, including coffee. Which was fine, and it does make it easier to get a refills if you needed.
As for food, I ordered a Breakfast Sandwich ($7.45) that comes with two eggs and choice of meat or avocado, cheddar cheese on Hawaiian Bun. I ordered my eggs to be scrambled, and they didn’t come out exactly what I thought they would look, but I was happy with them. For meat, I wanted pork belly, but the staff told me that they don’t offer pork belly option any more… So, I went with bacon instead.
The way the sandwich was put together was rather interesting. It had a bun, bacon strips, egg, bacon strips, egg, cheese and the top bun. Hawaiian bun was like a softer pretzel buns, with little sweetness to it. I really liked the buns! The eggs were fluffy, and bacon strips were crunchy, cloud-like buns…and it was delicious! Another thing I loved was that it came with tater tots instead of home fries. I love tater tots… Their tater tots were nothing really special, but comforting and not greasy at all, which was nice. It was really filling, so I actually brought about half of the sandwich and tater tots back to the hotel.
Another treat I got was their sugar cookie, for FREE!!! How? Well, I checked in at this spot with Yelp, and it gave me a free cookie! Yes! Thank you Yelp! They had a few different kinds, and I chose sugar cookie. It was really big, as big as my hand! It was soft, moist, sweet but not too sweet, and yes, delicious!
The staff here was not very friendly, but nice enough and willing to help. Overall, I had a good breakfast meeting here with my co-worker, and we could talk about whatever we wanted without worrying about other people overhearing us, since there was no one around… If I ever go back to Phoenix, I would try them again.
Another thing that I really liked about this company is that they partner with non-profit organizations and help provide food to the people in need within the neighborhood. So, when you get some food or drinks from any of their locations, you are also helping out with their cause, which is always a big plus!
