I love a good parfait from Japan. We got to have a really amazing Japanese flavored parfait from Hayashiya Chaen, and glorious fruits parfait from Kajitsuen Libre. While we were visiting Asakusa in January, we decided to try another fruits parfait spot called Fruit Parlor Goto. It is inside one of the old, covered shopping street, Hisago Street. It is fun just to walk around there, looking at all the shops and eateries.
The Fruit Goto Parlor is on the first floor of a concrete building, a bit strange look compared to the rest of the buildings on the street. There were more than a handful of people waiting outside. There is a paper with a pen right by the entrance, where you can put your name down. It also tells you how many people are in front of you in the cue. Since they only offer desserts and drinks, the turnover is pretty quick.
The inside is not large but not too small. Vert clean and spacious. The interior is very simple, while tile floor and wood furnishings. The wall decorations are cute, all fruit themed. They also had some cute little knickknacks for sale as well.
Their main dishes are all sorts of fruit parfaits, and fruit sandwiches, which they did not offer on this particular day. So, we decided to get two different kinds of parfaits. We chose the Winter Color Parfait with New Year Fruits (正月の果実の冬色パフェ) (2,200 yen / ~$15.40 January 2024), and Today’s Parfait (本日のフルーツパフェ) (1,200 yen / ~$8.40 January 2024). They were huge, overflowing with fresh fruits! Their menu changes frequently, based on what desserts they have fresh on hand, and what fruits are in season.
The Winter Color Parfait has Apples (りんご), Pear (ルレクチェ洋梨), Sumo Citrus (紅デコポン), Pomelo (晩白柚), Hassaku Orange (はっさく), Hyuganatsu Citrus (日向夏), Mandarin Orange (みかん), Pomegranate (ザクロ), Strawberry (イチゴ), and Dried Persimmon (ほし柿). It had all the fruits in the season, some are fancy kinds of fruits that you won’t usually have easy access. It was pretty to look at and better to eat! Fresh and ripe, sweet and so satisfying. The ice cream of this day was a homemade pineapple ice cream and vanilla ice cream. Yum!!!
Today’s Parfait had fruits from all over the world! They had Excellent Fuji from Yamagata, Tochiotome Strawberry from Tochigi, Banana and Pineapple from the Philippines, Grapefruit from South Africa, Orange from Australia, and Kiwi from California. Wow! If you wanted to taste some of the best fruits from around the world, all at once, you can get that at Fruit Parlor Gogo! It was all special and pretty amazing. Every bite offered the sweet symphony to our tastebuds. It also contained the pineapple ice cream and vanilla ice cream below, with frozen persimmon on the bottom. With all the different fruits all over the world coming together to create this single dessert, like a majestic orchestra. We certainly enjoyed every melody and every ingredient.
They have one gender-neutral bathroom in the back. A bit small but clean and organized. Small sink with the usual TOTO toilet.
Fruit Parlor Goto is a family owned business, with three generations. The grandma was busy taking care of check and cleaning the tables, and occasional chatting with the customers. She was very sweet. I think it is so nice to have a family business like this, where everyone is supporting each other lovingly and passionately. We had a nice dessert time here. Some of the parfaits are a bit pricey, but with the quality of the fruits, it is worth the price in my opinion. If you are a fruits lover or a parfait lover, head over to Fruit Parlor Goto and indulge in some decadent fruit parfaits!
