I had an opportunity to attend an event held at Harlem Nights, and it was lots of fun. I don’t really venture out to that area, since it is not really easy to get to via subway, but I wanted to check out this new bar-lounge venue. I gotta say, it was pretty easy to spot, with very unusual exterior, especially in NYC. It looked as if a tree house or log cabin was transported from somewhere out in the nature.
And that log cabin theme (?) was carried into the interior, with barrels, wood benches, and log tables. It provides kind of relaxing, chilling atmosphere in the nature, but without all the bugs and whatnot you might have if you were really at a log cabin in the woods.
It had nice large bar, and behind it was nice red brick wall and menu of the drinks and food on chalkboard.
It had all kinds of cute decorations, reminding me of good-old Southern style, like window shutters. It was interesting just looking around to see all the little ornaments.
The space itself is not huge, but it is not too small either. In addition to bar counter seats, they have some table seating and lounge sofas against walls. Not much seating, but people don’t always sit at a bar, so that is not unusual.
One cool thing I found was the plugs on the wall, by the lounge sofas, for your mobile device or whatever that you need to charge. Super helpful, I love place with this kind of courtesy to customers. And, they have Free WiFi!
We had a drink made with Buffalo Trace Whiskey, lemon juice, and ginger ale. It was pretty tasty, and having them served in a small mason jar was really cute. It had good flavor, and was nice and strong.
Then, we heard that we can have the drink with fruit punch instead of lemon juice, so we tried that too. This one was much sweeter, it was pretty good. I wish if they had this with watermelon flavor, that would be so cool for the Summer. I liked both lemon and fruit punch ones, but I think I liked the fruit punch one just a little bit more than the lemon one.
And, they have live music almost everyday, from Monday to Friday. We had a live music during our event as well, it was pretty good. They were fun and talented, but for that space, the sound was a bit too loud… At least the music was really good, and they could really sing.
And of course they have bathrooms. Down the stairs by the lounge sofas, underneath the horse shoes. They have I think 3 unisex bathrooms, with wooden doors to keep the same decor from upstairs.
In the inside, they have retro looking wallpapers with mosaic tiles, really pretty.
I can’t say much about their food, since I didn’t really get to have any, but they do several bar food, mostly finger food. The owner of this place was very friendly, full of energy. The bartender did a good job, providing good drinks to everyone throughout the event. It was a fun time, good drinks and good music, and if they also have good food, then they are set! It is always good to see a new establishment opening up in a neighborhood that needed some thing to live things up. Hopefully, they will continue to offer their yummy drinks and fun music to their neighbors and all other patrons alike for a long time!
