We went to Harlem Public when they had some special menu for just one week. We went on the second day to order the “secret” menu items; taco, burger and a drink. They had a nice outdoor space, and for a Tuesday evening, they had a good crowd going.
Inside was a bit dark, and not as big as it looks from the outside. The tables were limited, other than the counter seats in the middle, they only had a few tables left.
We were lucky to grab a table right away, and a server brought us water in a liquor bottle. It is always fun to drink up what looks like a hard liquor!
We put in our orders, all from the special menu. Sebastian’s Tacos, The Green Belly Burger, and Cocojito Verde. They brought the cocktail drink first, the Cocojito Verde ($12). I assumed it is a twist of Mojito, made with coconut. And I was mostly right. It was sweet from coconut, kind of milky, which was unexpected. It was really strong, serious cocktail!
Then, the server came and told us that they don’t have Sebastian’s Tacos. It was the second day of the “secret menu week” and they claimed they already have sold out of it… really? I wonder if they were just not prepared for it? So sad…
Now, the Green Belly Burger ($15). It is a burger topped with Avocado Fries + Jack Cheese, LTO, drizzled jalapeƱo aioli on a brioche bun. We told them that we will be sharing it, so the burger came pre-cut in half. The burger usually comes with a handcut French Fries, but we got Tater Tots instead.
It had a thick patty, cooked just the way we ordered, and super juicy! Jack Cheese was great, cuddling the patty with such love…cheesy goodness. Thick avocado fries which was interesting, and added creamy texture to the burger. Veggies were nice and fresh. Certainly a good burger, quite filling too.
The server was nice and friendly. The music was kind of loud, that makes people to talk louder so that they can hear themselves. So, it got pretty loud in there. We had a nice light dinner here, and it seems to be popular with the locals and alike. A good sign of tasty food and drinks. If we are in the area, I would like to try other dishes from their regular menu.
