This was my second Havana Central Event, and I remember how much fun I had last year (you can read my review from last year here: http://www.foodlovergirl.com/havana-central/). It was at the same spot, upper level of the restaurant, the VIP section. As soon as we arrived, they showered us with Margaritas.
They did few things differently from last year. Margaritas were in a fancier glass, and had sexy lady stirrer in it, which was fun! The drinks were really strong, my world around me was turning about the time I got home.
The empanadas were good as before, but with fewer crowd, it seemed like they had fewer food. I got to have chicken and beef empanada. The chicken empanada was so juicy, the juice exploded when I bit into it (a bit dangerous but I managed). The beef empanada had raisins which was interesting, and gave additional flavor.
Then, the main course, the roasted pig! They brought out whole roasted pig as last year, and we got some pig with pickled onion, chimichurri, and garlic sauce. They didn’t have garlic bread, instead, they had this very tasty garlic sauce. I poured it over the pork and it made it so good! The skin of the pork was a bit too chewy and hard to eat, but the meat was nice and tender.
Then the mini flans came out, which was pretty good, firm, sweet, and tasty. One of the staff, Maria took a good care of us, she made sure we got to have flans.
Overall, it was another fun event, good food and warm service. They were all helpful, even thought not all staffs were friendly. As long as we had at least one staff who were friendly and helpful, then we were all set.
It is good to have this type of restaurant in the heart of Times Square, as most restaurants in this area are for tourists (not so good food with high price tag). It seemed like lots of locals were dining here, which is always a good sign. I would like to go back to this Cuban paradise again to try some of their tasty menu!
