Kura Revolving Sushi Bar #2

Since our first visit to the Kura Revolving Sushi Bar in September, we went back several more times to have fun and tasty brunch. They really seem to have the successful business thing down, as they continue to expand even during these difficult times. The safety is number one priority right now, and they are really good at keeping everyone safe, so that we can have a safe dining experience.

So, we did try more sushi dishes with each visit, of course. We had Hokkaido Scallops, Garlic Ponzu Red Snapper, Dashi Olive Salmon, Negitoro ($2.95/plate)… They were all very fresh and tasty! I do still love all the salmon sushi dishes the best, but all other ones are great too.

One of the dish that I was surprised by was their Tamago (Egg Omelet). It was not only flavorful, but super thick! Egg omelet usually is one of kids favorite dish, but with this impressive omelet, we got pretty excited about it too! Spanish Mackerel was another tasty one. Fresh, great texture, and ginger enhanced the flavor of the mackerel. We also tried some of their specialty rolls, such as Texan Roll, made with spicy tuna, avocado, cream cheese, tuna, fried onion, topped with spicy sauce and yuzu cream sauce. It was good, but not great. Rolls like this, you get mouthful of sauce, and lose the real flavor of the ingredients. I prefer regular sushi dishes than these types of rolls…

No, we didn’t just try fish sushi dishes. I ventured out and got Seared Beef with Yakiniku Sauce! And let me tell you, it was soooo good! The beef was thinly sliced yet meaty and juicy. The yakiniku sauce was amazing!!! It is now one of my favorite dish here!

And then, onto some Hand Rolls. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar has many hand roll selections, which is great. I chose Spicy Tuna Crunchy Hand Roll, made with Spicy Tuna, Shrimp Tempura, Yuzu Cream Sauce, Eel Sauce, Panko, and Sesame. My hubby went with Spicy Salmon Crunchy Hand Roll, made with Spicy Salmon, Avocado, Salmon Tempura, Yuzu Cream Sauce, Eel Sauce, Panko, and Sesame.

They were really good, nice large portion, packed with ingredients that are hanging out from the seaweed wrap. They are also $2.95 per plate, and you get one hand roll. As they are large hand roll, I think it is totally worth the price.

Hand rolls also became one of our favorite dishes, I had it again during the following visits. I preferred the Spicy Tuna Crunchy Hand Roll to others. Somehow, it seems bigger than others do with more goodness stuffed inside the seaweed wrap…

And if you read my first blog on Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, you know I am not a fan of their Ikura dish…because the amount of ikura on the dish is just too sad… If you are wondering what I mean, here is the photo.

Now, let’s talk about dishes that are not sushi dishes. We tried some noodle dishes over the several visits. You can order them with the touch screen pad from your table, and it comes on the express conveyer belt, above the regular conveyer belt with sushi dishes on them.

I heard that the “spicy noodle” is quite tasty, so I looked for it on the menu, and found Tantanmen ($7.35). This was about the only possible “spicy noodle” option on their menu, so we ordered one to share.

It is common to have a noodle (or rice) dish at the end of the meal, we call it “shime” in Japan. We decided to have ramen as shime for our sushi brunch. It is good to have small portion to share, as we were both getting full at this point. Even though it was small in portion, but big in flavor! It also came with boiled egg and juicy pork. It was a bit spicy but not too spicy. The noodles was plump and cooked just right. We really liked it!

Another “shime” of our choice on a different visit was Shrimp Tempura Udon ($6.65). Since the shrimp tempura was already sitting in the udon broth, it didn’t retain its crunchy texture about the time it got to us. It would be really great if they separate the tempura and udon first, and let the customer put them on the udon. This way, you can enjoy the crunchy texture of the tempura as you eat them. Anyways, it was good, comforting, and filling. Not great, but good.

We also tried a rice dish as our “shime” during one of the visits. Since their beef sushi was so good, we decided to try their Beef Ojyu ($7.35). It is basically rice topped with their glorious beef in yakiniku sauce.

And it was as good as I wanted them to be… Sooooo juicy and packed with flavor! Generous amount of sweet beef, that melt in your mouth. Very filling and oh-so-satisfying!

After so many visits, they have not once disappointed us. Great, fresh, tasty food, friendly service, and we always felt safe to dine there. I hope they will continue to do great job, so we can go back again and again for more fun brunch!
