I love Brunch. There is something about it that warms your heart and makes you smile. Maybe it is because brunch means the weekend is here, and that you can enjoy the day with your loved ones, or simply relax…with no work! We found another popular brunch spot in NJ. It is located in a small outdoor shopping mall. The parking is shared, so it might be a challenge to find a spot if your go during the busy hours. Once we were inside, they had two lines at the entrance. One line is for party of two or less, and the other line is for party of three or more. As you can imagine, the line for party of two moves faster. Make sure everyone in your group is there, since they will not seat you unless everyone in your party is present.
We started off with Hawaiian Kona Coffee Medium Roast ($2.75) with milk. Look at this cute mugs! You can actually buy these handmade mugs, and the proceed goes to St. Jude’s. Awesome! Coffee was good, not too strong, with nice aroma.
We usually get one sweet dish and one savory dish so that we can taste them both. I wanted something hearty, with egg(s), so I went with one of their skillet dishes. I chose Original Skillet ($10.99) that comes with over easy eggs, crisp bacon, potatoes, avocado, tomatoes, and pepper jack cheese. The server asked if it is ok for the eggs to be cooked over easy, and if it is ok to have bacon bits. Very considerate!
It didn’t come in a skillet, which was a bit disappointing. The eggs were cooked to perfection, exactly the way I like it to have egg porn… Cheesy goodness, and potato had nice seasoning with tiny little kick to it. It looked a bit small, but it is like a small mountain. Great volume and super satisfying!
I mentioned they focuses on pancakes, and they have more than 10 kinds of pancakes to choose from. And if that is not enough, you can “build your own pancakes” here as well. My hubby did find something we wanted off the menu; Dutch Baby. We had Dutch Baby at Elmer’s Restaurant and at Tilikum Place Café, and we so enjoyed them very much!
We ordered Oven Baked Dutch Baby ($8.50). It is topped with sweet lemon and butter. There was an option to add fresh berries for $3.50, so we did that too. When it came to our table, we were in awe of its size…it was huge! Bigger than my hubby’s face! The fresh berries came on the side, so that the pancake didn’t get soggy. The pancake was so fluffy and doughy and delicious! Fruits were nice and ripe, so good! They brought syrup but you really don’t need it. Nice sweetness to it without being too sweet. It had a great flavor of egg, almost like custard. Yum!
If you want Dutch Baby but not sure if you can finish it? Not to worry, here at Original Pancake House, they had regular size and “MINI” size. Mini Dutch baby is still pretty big through, bigger than a baby’s face!
They had bathroom at the back corner, three gender neutral and accessible bathroom. It was large, clean, and well-lit. For a restaurant so popular and busy, they do a good job at keeping the bathroom clean.
The restaurant is a pretty large, but not big enough for the demand. By 9:30am, the lines were out the door! They have an open kitchen, so you can see the staffs work at full speed, creating tasty magic. Everyone moves quite swiftly here, efficient and fast! Our server, John was great, polite and friendly, took a good care of us. I would definitely want to go back again for more tasty brunch dishes!!!
