I was invited to an event here at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. This restaurant was not on my radar, I was excited to try their food and see what they were all about. It is always good find a nice restaurant in Midtown or Theatre District, where they are filled with tourists and those touristy restaurants (basically, over priced no-so-great food).
The entry way was kind of interesting, they had this very small entrance hall, with host table at front, waiting area to the right, and staircase to the left.
I liked their simple decoration that had antique-look to it, with large tufted chair in the waiting area, lighting fixture, and color scheme. They had interesting NYC decoration on a mirror-type canvas, depicting an old map of New York and some old photographs.
We were directed to the second floor space, which was more for a private event space. As it was enclosed, I could not see the main dining area on the ground floor. If you want a secluded space, this is nice, but it made the room a bit dark and small, even thought the room was large enough. At this event, we got to taste some of their offerings. They had Artisanal Cheese & Fruit and Mediterranean Roasted Vegetables & Dips beautifully displayed.
They had nice selection of different types of cheese, and fruits were fresh and tasty. Really enjoyed them all!
The veggies were roasted just right, with nice seasonings. The dips were really tasty as well. I like the carrots to be a bit soft, but not too soft, and they cooked them just right!
We also got to taste their Ahi Tuna Poke, Beef Empanada, and Tomato & Mozzarella Skewers. The Poke was kind of warm, but it probably is difficult to keep the temperature under control at an event. Otherwise, it was good. The Beef Empanada was very flavorful, but just a bit too salty.
Tomato & Mozzarella Skewers were really nice, fresh and tasty. The balsamic vinegar drizzle was a nice touch.
Then, there came the steak! They were cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and the seasoning was really great. After tasting their steak, I can see they must take a pride in their high quality meat. It was really delicious!
And let’s not forget the drinks! Their drinks were pretty done good. They offer three types of drinks with different liqueur; Bourbon, Tequila, and Gin. Bourbon drink was the New York Sour, strong and flavorful. I liked how they make the gradation of color until you stir it.
The Tequila one, Crescent City Cooler was really sweet, as the name “cooler” suggests. If you like fruit punch type of flavor, this is the one. The last but not least, French Quarter 74 with Gin was bubbly and had sweetness to it without being too sweet. I enjoyed all of them very much!
For desserts, they had Cheesecake and Dark Chocolate Sin Cake, which were both really great. The cheesecake was velvety, and chocolate cake was so smooth and almost creamy. Both very decadent and melt in your mouth. Such a delightful ending to the fun event.
Even thought it was a large event with some craziness to it, the server still did their best to clean up the dishes and glasses, trying their best to keep the tables and the room clean. I can see us going back there to dine in a near future, and have their awesome steak again…!
