The last spot we tried during our trip to Marco Island was Sami’s Pizza & Grill, who offers all sorts of dishes, range from Breakfast to Dinner. They also offer pizza, as their name suggests. We just wanted some pizza for the family to have at home, so we called and placed our order, and then went over to pick them up.
Without really knowing Sami’s Pizza & Grill is more than just a pizza spot, I was surprised to see how big this place is when I arrived. This spot is not just a pizza joint for sure, but a full-blown restaurant! They also offer all sorts of cocktails too!
For the takeout food, we got two kinds of salads to share. We chose Caprese Salad ($15.99), made with sliced vine ripe tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese, topped with fresh basil, balsamic vinegar reduction and extra virgin olive oil. It was super fresh, scrumptious, and high quality! The other salad was just a simple House Salad ($10.99), made with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, black olives, green peppers and cucumbers. With your choice of dressing. They were super fresh and crispy, very refreshing!
For pizza, we got three kinds of pizza pies. They are known to offer the biggest pie on the island, made with in-house, freshly made, hand tossed pizza dough. The first one was Cheese Pizza ($16.99/M), made with Mozzarella cheese and pizza sauce. It was a good cheese pizza, with a generous amount of cheese topping. The crust was doughy in a good way, crispy and tasty.
The second pizza was Fresh Veggie Pizza ($21.99/M), made with Mushrooms, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, black olives. It had loads of toppings, all fresh and the quality you can taste! The Medium size is cut into six slices, but they are pretty big slices! Depends on what kind of pizza you are used to, Sami’s medium size pizza can be considered more of a large. The veggies had some crunch to it, and mushroom had a nice flavor.
The last but not least, their famous Ultimate Pizza ($22.99/M), which is a double crusted pizza, filled with mozzarella, spinach, meatballs, pepperoni, roasted red peppers and roasted garlic. Now, I had no idea what the Ultimate Pizza would look like, or what this pizza was all about… At a glance, it didn’t look like much of anything…
But, once we tried to lift one slice, I yelled out “WOW!” with a pleasant surprise. It was heavy, and as it was described on the menu, stuffed with loads of ingredients! It was cheesy goodness with fresh and tasty ingredients. It reminded me of calzone, but in a pizza form. It had a nice amount of seasoning on the top crust, and every bite was mouthful. It certainly was the ultimate kind of pizza!
The pizza adventure on the Marco Island was a total success! We discover the treasure chest full of tasty and super filling pizza pies. The “secret” pizza sauce at Sami’s Pizza & Grill was very nice too, packed with flavor. The dough was crispy and doughy, all the ingredients were very fresh. If you are looking for a place to get some pizza, give this place a try!
