One of the most famous and popular burger joint in New York City, and they are still expanding, inside and outside the city. Once you try one of their burgers, you see why they are popular – their burgers are super tasty, juicy, and made with good ingredients! They have many locations through out the city, but this one in DUMBO is pretty nice. It is right by the river with beautiful park alongside, and you can see the NYC skyline. The interior is all wood, as all other Shake Shake joints, but this one has cute ship decorations on the wall here and there.
We got some burgers: SmokeShack and ShackMeister Burger. The SmokeShack Single ($6.69) is a classic favorite to many: Cheeseburger topped with all-natural applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper, and shack sauce. It is juicy and the cheese melts over the beef, and the bacon adds the extra texture and flavor. The buns are soft, and not too big in size, making it just the right size burger (to me).
Now, the ShackMeister Burger, double ($8.99), is a new menu that was added this year, and my first time trying it (finally). The actual burger is much messier looking than the ads, but it tasted as great as it looks in the ads. It is a cheeseburger with crispy ShachMeister Ale-marinated shallots, and if you like a burger with onion rings or onion strings, then this is basically the same thing, just with shallots. It had really nice flavor from the crispy shallots, and the beef was juicy and tasty. The double is a handful, so unless you are really hungry, go with single. This has become my new fav burger at Shake Shack until they remove it from their menu…
One of everyone’s favorite items at this joint is their fries. We always order cheese fries ($3.95) to share. Believe me, it might not look enough, but it really is enough to share. Everything they have is pretty filling, so at the end of your meal, you will be pretty full. They are Yukon fries, and very soft and potato-y. The cheese is a mix of Cheddar and American cheese sauce, and it kind of hugs the fries, and they go perfectly well together.
Another thing they do well (they basically do pretty much everything well), is the shake. They really do have awesome tasting shakes ($5.25). They have all the basic flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and others like Caramel, Peanut Butter, and Coffee. They also have the flavor of the week, and they have all been quite amazing and tasty. And of course, they have amazing frozen custard ice cream that makes the shakes… Single Dip ($3.50) of Vanilla in a cup will be a serious treat if you are in a mood for an ice cold, creamy, smooth frozen custard.
Hop over to DUMBO one day soon, for a nice relaxing day by the water while looking at the beautiful NYC skyline, and enjoy a yummy burger and a shake (or whatever you desire) from Shake Shack for a nice chilled out day!
