We are always excited to visit a new restaurant in the city. We found one that looked pretty nice, so we checked it out for brunch. The wall facing the street was covered with windows, from floor to ceiling, bringing in lots of natural light.
The inside was long and narrow and long, clean lines with modern design. It had warm and welcoming feel with the wood furniture, and some wood was used on a ceiling to create more sharp and clean lines. I liked the simple and sleek design.
They had more seating in the back, the set up can allow larger group comfortably. I liked the vibrant pop of color here with bright blue and yellow.
The atmosphere was friendly and laid back, but also a bit slow… For food, my hubby ordered Bacon Fritata ($13), made with Bacon, Mushroom and Cheese. It also came with a side salad and some kind of fried cake.
The fritata was surprisingly good, very fluffy and seasoned just right. It had chunks of mushrooms that gave additional flavor and plump texture. Bacon was thinly sliced, and not cut up, making it a bit harder to eat… It was really tasty though. The side salad was very fresh. The fried item was some kind of potato, almost like mashed potato that was fried, like a croquette. Whatever the name of this item is, it was packed with flavor, really delicious!
I went with more comfort food than healthy…that is what brunch is for, the comfort food, right? So, I chose Classic Cheese Burger ($13), that had an option to add Sunny Side Egg for $1 extra. I wanted kind of breakfast burger, so this was perfect. It came with a side of thick-cut fries and a pickle.
The egg was cooked perfectly, I got my egg porn that I wanted! The burger didn’t have anything else on it, just the patty, cheese and egg. There was no option to add anything like lettuce or tomato either, super simple burger…
The buns were toasted nicely, fluffy but strong enough to hold the big patty. I requested patty to be cooked medium well, but looked like it was cooked more than that, more like well-done. The side of very thick fries were really flavorful and potato-y. Overall, it was a good burger, nice and juicy.
Since it was not a huge portion, we decided to try their dessert. They didn’t have a dessert menu, but had a couple of desserts to choose from. We chose Chocolate Mousse ($8). It was good, interesting texture that was whipped and fluffy, almost plump. It wasn’t great, but good.
We ordered Cappuccino ($4.50) to go with the dessert. It was a good cup of coffee.
They had a uni-sex bathroom all the way at the back.
The bathroom was really pretty, almost impressively pretty. I liked the colors and design of the bathroom, didn’t like a restaurant bathroom. It was nice and clean too.
It was a nice brunch, the service was again very friendly and polite, but can be very slow. It took a while to get a bill, even thought it wasn’t busy in here. Not a place to go if you are in a hurry. It was relaxing and home-y, we did enjoy our brunch here.
