We went to Terravita almost a year ago, when it was still rather new. We decided to go back to see how they are doing, and if they have something interesting on their menu. We started off with Iced Coffee ($3). It came in a nice size glass, not too big nor too small. It was a refreshing drink for a hot day.
We were there for a brunch, and my hubby was feeling like having a pancake on this day. He chose Lemon and Ricotta Pancakes ($12). It comes with strawberries and banana, but it came with more than that. It had blueberry preserve and fresh mango on top, which was great!
The pancake was flurry and airy, and a pretty good portion too. I wish if it had a bit more cream in between the pancakes, it was mainly in the center of the pancakes. But, it was tasty and comforting.
I went with something a bit different. I like having a burger for brunch (or any time, really), and they have a few burgers to choose from. I saw something really interesting, and I went for it. It was Terra Burger ($17). What is so interesting about this burger? It is made with Angus beef, caramelized onion, IPA cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and bacon aioli. Doesn’t sound so unique right? Well, they are placed between Fried Plantain Buns!!! There was an option to add fried egg to this burger for additional $2, so I did that to make this more of a brunch burger.
That’s right. It does not come with regular bread buns, but fried plantain buns. How cool is that? It also come with a side of yucca fries and pickles. The fried plantain as buns works great, firm and almost crunchy in some spots, with that great flavor. It does fall apart a bit as you eat the burger, but it did ok. The egg was cooked just the way I like, patty was fat and juicy, and veggies were fresh. I really enjoyed this burger! Yucca fries were great too.
So, our second visit was a success! The burger ended up a bit pricey, but I think it was worth it. I am glad I got to try this unique burger. The service was friendly, still very laid back and a bit slow. We did have a nice, relaxing brunch here. I am sure we will go back and try more of their dishes in a future!
