We were looking for a place for light dinner one evening, and found this interesting spot. The entrance is down the stairs from the street, almost hidden a bit. The entrance area was marked with a large nautical-looking compass on the ground.
The inside felt like you are on some kind of large, old ship. I really liked the atmosphere. They had a fully stacked bar to the left, and booth tables to the right. Long and narrow, but yet still spacious with lights flooding in.
Behind the bar and the booth tables, they had more space. It looked more casual here, kind of “hang out” spot with some drinks and snacks. Chat about your days with friends without care in the world over a beer. I found a staircase here, with more space up top, so I went to check it out.
Up here in the loft space was a nice looking lounge with some sofas. There was a large skylight here, letting in more natural lights. Very comfortable looking space, a perfect spot for chilling out over some cocktails.
Back on the main floor down the stairs, we decided to take the large table up front by the entrance. Since it was still early, and we were not planning to stay too long, they didn’t mind us two taking a large table.
This is a gastropub offering a seafood-focused menu & craft cocktails. As I mentioned, we just wanted some light snacks, so we ordered two small items to share. The first one up was Lump Crab Mac & Cheese ($18), with red lump crab meat, bacon, sauce soubise, cheddar, gruyere, & Parmesan, baked in cast iron pan.
It had great flavor of crab in every bite. The crab meat is not like lobster meat, which is more chunky. Here, the crab meat is smaller, and makes it easier to each with mac and cheese. And speaking of cheese, it was soooo cheesy, super delicious! I thought it was a bit pricey for the size, but I say it was worth it.
Another items of choice was Salted Cod Tater Tots ($11). This one was nothing like what I imagined. It was not “tater tots” in my opinion, but more like cod croquettes. It came with two kind of dipping sauces.
The croquettes were packed with flavor, and loads of cod fish in there. The sambal sauce had some kick to it, which was nice. The white-colored sauce, which tasted kind of like Ranch, was nice too. The croquettes were soft and juicy, lightly fried, really great!
The staff here was nice and efficient, we had a nice, comfortable, relaxing time here. We didn’t get try any of their craft cocktails, but I would love to go back to try some cocktails and more of their tasty dishes!
