If you read my previous blog about The North End Food Hall, you know it is in the “soft opening” phase right now. But, I am here to tell you, now you can get some tasty food! Only one vendor, Harlem Public is fully operational right now, but I hope other vendors will be joining soon… I will keep you posted!
Since the cocktails from Harlem Public was so good, we decided to try more of their tasty concoctions. This time, we ordered BK 2 The Heights ($12) and Spanky’s Bourbon ($12). Look at these pretty and bright colors!
BK 2 The Heights ($12) is actually called “BK 2 The Harlem” at their main location in Harlem. How clever of them to change the name to fit this spot! It is made with Brooklyn Gin, Lavender Simple, Lime, and Ginger Beer. I thought it was going to be somewhat similar to their Mezcal Lavender Mule, but it was not similar at all. It is good to have distinctive, unique cocktails to choose from. This drink had strong lavender flavor, but not in a bad way. Elegantly sweet, and such a pretty color!
Spanky’s Bourbon ($12) is made with Bourbon, Elderflower Liqueur, Peach, Lemon, and Black Tea. It was so refreshing, kind of a spiked sweet tea that tasted amazing! It goes great with their food, as it does not fight against the food, but accompany it perfectly. Great drink to pair with any of their food!
Speaking of food, let’s talk about what we had! We wanted to try assortment of their offerings, so we ordered a couple of their “Shareable Stuff” and one of their “Sandos” to share between the two of us. All of their food from Harlem Public sounded and looked good, so we were super excited to try them!
The first dish we tried was their wings. They have six different flavors to choose from, which is great! We ordered 8 wings ($13), and decided on Everything Bagel flavor. What a genius way to use the Everything Bagel spice… The wings were super juicy, without being greasy at all. Everything bagel flavor was really fun. I would definitely want to try their other wings too!
The second dish we ordered was Fish Taco ($9). It come with two fish tacos, made with Fried Cod, Slaw, Pico, Guac, and Comeback Sauce. I thought the fish was a generous size. They were lightly fried, not greasy, but moist and flakey. Creamy avocado was great too. Everything was super fresh! I think the price for this dish is a complete steal!
If you have seem any of their food photos, you know Harlem Public does amazing burger and sandwiches… Choosing which one to order will not be an easy task. We were feeling more of a chicken sandwich than burger on this day, so we went with Hot Fried Thigh Sandwich ($16). We also substituted their fries for Tater Tots (additional $1.50). I have special love for all things tater tots… And their tater tots were great! Crispy exterior with soft, potato-y inside, not greasy, and yes, super tasty!
Fried Thigh Sandwich ($16) is made with Boned-out Fried Chicken Thigh tossed in Hot Sauce, Slaw, Crispy Pickles, Ranch, and Brooklyn Soft Roll. This sandwich was great! Fluffy buns, perfect spiciness, juicy chicken…what more do you want? The coolness of pickles and the slaw calmed down the spice level. Well balanced sandwich that is very satisfying.
So, our second visit was another big success! If you want to see more interior photos, you can check them out here. All of the staffs were super friendly and welcoming, we had a really good time! I can’t wait for The North End Food Hall to get more vendors, becoming a food/drink destination. But for now, if you want to try delicious cocktails and food from Harlem Public, you can do that here at The North End Food Hall!
