Ice cream is good, but what’s better than ice cream? Boozy ice creams!!! You might say ice cream is not in season during cold months, but nothing like tasty, boozy ice cream to warm you up from the inside… Here at Tipsy Scoop, you can get just that! Tipsy Scoop offers ice cream flavors infused with bourbon, vodka, rum, sangria or tequila. They call it “hand-crafted ice cream with the mastery of a perfectly mixed cocktail.” Say what??? Count me in! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a welcoming smile. The manager was on duty, and she checked our ID (which made my hubby happy, since it has been a while since he was carded. LOL). It is a “barlour” after all.
The inside was a nice size, not large, but not too small either. They had a good amount of seating for an ice cream shop, especially in NYC. No real table-and-chair-type seating here, but all counter seats along the sidewalls. They had one small section near the entrance, reserved for Sundae Making Class with lots of toppings and such on the counter. How fun!
If you need more than just boozy ice cream, you can might find something else on the shelves. I spotted some Sugarfina candies there! They had other ice cream and sweets related merchandise, such as luggage tag, cadies, ornaments, etc., etc…
We love the idea of ice cream or sorbet with alcohol. We so enjoyed Prosecco Float from Shug’s Soda Fountain in Seattle, and Classic Liquor over Vanilla Ice Cream from Harbour Public House in Bainbridge Island. Here at Tipsy Scoop, we were after something very specific too. I saw they are offering Tipsy Pot of Gold Sundae ($32)! I might not ever find a pot of gold at the end of rainbow, but at least I can get my hands on tasty pot of deliciousness!
So, what does this amazing looking pot of god contain? Get ready for it… It has 3 scoops of Irish Coffee, 3 scoops of Spiked Mint, and 3 scoops of Dark Chocolate Whiskey, served in a Leprechaun pot. It is then, topped with Rainbow Lollipops, Golden Coins, Sour Rainbow Belts, Skittles, and Marshmallows. Tipsy Scoop certainly knows what pot of gold should look like…amazing!!!
Our favorite was Irish Coffee, made with vanilla ice cream, coffee liquer, infused with whisky. Spiked Mint Chocolate Chip was good too, but didn’t feel as strong, even though it has a good amount of alcohol in it too. A dangerous one, you can have so much of it without realizing how tipsy you are getting… It is made with mint chocolate ice cream infused with crème de menthe and chocolate liquer. I love crème de menthe, so it was great! It had a really great flavor of Irish Coffee, and it was strong too! The Dark Chocolate Whiskey is made with dark chocolate ice cream infused with whiskey. This one didn’t really taste like it had any booze in it, until we got towards the middle and bottom of the scoop. It seemed as if the whiskey part had all went towards the bottom??? But once we got there, it was surely very strong. The whiskey flavor really came through there.
And it was not some small, cheesy pot of gold. It was quite HUGE! I was surprised and overjoyed at the same time! Needless to say, not really made for one person… It is perfect for three or four people, really. The plate was deeper than I thought as well, being able to hold all the ice cream gold.
And what’s more, if you go there on your birthday, you get a free birthday shot! As it happens, I was there with a birthday boy. So, he got a complimentary boozy ice cream shot. Thank you Tipsy Scoop for making his birthday even sweeter!
He went with Peppermint Martini for his shot, made with vanilla ice cream spiked with candy cane infused vodka, and bejeweled with pieces of peppermint. They put some sprinkles on there to make it more festive. It was tasty too, nice peppermint flavor, without being too overpowering.
The manager was really nice, friendly and helpful. She was very knowledgeable about the company, and passionate about working there. The St. Patrick Parade might be cancelled everywhere, but we still know how to celebrate the day! They do have other sundaes there at Tipsy Scoop, and you can even make your own sundae too. Of course, you can just get a scoop or two. And if you can’t decide on just one or two flavors, they offer a flight of 4 flavors ($12). Lastly, they offer pretty darn good Happy Hour from 4-6pm on weekdays. You can get the flight for $8, and you can also get 2 for 1 scoops during the happy hour!
Looking for a way to celebrate St. Patrick Day in a fun, sweet, delicious way? Look no more… Looking for a tasty ice cream you can enjoy during the cold months (or any day)? Look no more… head over to Tipsy Scoop for your own boozy ice cream!
