We first visited Uptown Garrison in January 2018 shortly after they opened. We returned a month later when they expanded their menu. We have visited them a few times since then, and we always enjoyed our meal and drinks. I want to let you know how they are doing, almost two years later. They had the place decorated for the holiday season, and it is really nice and relaxing. As lovely as it has been for the last (almost) two years.
We have tried a few of their pizzas, and they have been great. And yes, the drinks! Still affordable and tasty. We ordered one of our favorite dessert cocktails, Grasshopper ($11). Then, our server came back and asked if we wanted to try a special cocktail that server has created for the evening, called “Nut-hopper.” She explained to us that it is like a Grasshopper, but nutty. It is more like the “Ferrero Rocher” of Grasshopper. So, we decided to give Nut-hopper ($12) a try. It was indeed very nutty, and super flavorful. We really liked it! I think the name “Nut Cracker” is more fitting for this drink, just my opinion… The Grasshopper was great, strong and high quality as always. Only thing is that I do prefer it to be green…
For main, I was feeling like having a burger. Luckily for me, they offer burger! I ordered The Garrison Burger ($18), made with Happy Valley beef burger on housemade milk bun with raclette, confit onions, burger sauce, gem lettuce, and french fries. It was much smaller than I thought, I but rather have quality than quantity… I requested the burger to be cooked medium, and it came out just the way I like, perfection! The milk bun was almost like a pretzel bun, very tasty! Raclette drizzling down over the beef patty as if it was giving a warm embrace. Really nice burger.
Mu hubby decided to try one of their pizza offerings, and went with Eggplant Pizza ($16). It is topped with red sauce, garlic, chilli purée, fried eggplant, basil, and parsley. It is a vegan pizza, so it has no cheese. But, you can add cheese to this pizza if you are not vegan. Our server recommended ricotta cheese, so we went with that for additional $3. It came with a generous amount of fresh ricotta and fried eggplant. I somehow thought it will come with deep-fried eggplant, but I was mistaken… The pizza was really good, with a little kick to it from the chilli purée.
The dessert menu haven’t really changed much. We ordered something we had before, Bread Pudding ($8) with sour cherries and butter milk caramel. It was warm and dense, without feeling too heavy. Light and velvety cream, and berries were nice too. We liked this dessert, but I do hope they will expand their dessert menu…
Service was great, friendly, and polite. She gave us great recommendations. We were very well taken care of. I am sure we will return again for more quality food and drinks!
