When you are traveling by air, it is always good to have access to an airport lounge to relax before or after the flight. And, in most cases, you do get free food and drinks. While traveling to Seattle, we used the Wingtips Lounge at JFK. It is open 24 hours which is great, but they do limit access if it gets overcrowded. It is located at Terminal 4, after the TSA/Security Checkpoint. It is not far from after you get through the Security, just turn right and walk a minute or two, and you will see the entrance to the lounge with red wall the left.
The inside was spacious, especially since it was not busy in there at all when we entered. The entire space is wheelchair accessible which is a plus to those travelers who are disabled.
They have bathroom near the entrance. The front half of the lounge is set up more like a cafeteria. In the back, they have more comfortable lounge seats. They had a few TV screens, and yes, free WiFi.
They offer drinks including some alcoholic beverages, and light refreshments. I liked how they had a fruit infused water, “Watermelon Mint Water.” They had typical orange juice for the morning crowd, but they also had Fuji Apple Juice which is quite rare in my opinion. I love Fuji apples, so it was great!
As for the food, since we were there in the morning hours, it was mainly fruits, yogurt, boiled eggs, and a few other breakfast-type offerings. Not very attractive I must say… They didn’t have much of “hot” food, unless you toast some bread.
Another breakfast item offered was a few cereals. They also had a few kinds of milk by the cereals too. Then, one hot item, soup! In the lounge was a bit cool, so I wanted something hot or warm, so I was happy to see the soup.
I got some hot cappuccino and Chicken Noodle Soup. As we were flying out in a couple hours, and it was pretty early in the morning, I didn’t get any alcoholic beverage. The food offering was a bit disappointing. I wish if they had more items to choose from…
Regardless of the food and drink offerings, it is still a much better option to be waiting for your flight at the lounge rather than at the gate on an uncomfortable seat. It was nice and relaxing, quiet enough, and stress free since you can see the flight status right there as well. It was clean and well-lit, it gave us time to chill out before hopping onto a crowded plane. I would definitely use this lounge again if I am flying out of Terminal 4 in the future.
